Meet the 2020 Jacques Jenny Lecturer
Leesa M. Galatz, MD, is the Mount Sinai Professor and Chair of the Leni and Peter May Department of Orthopedic Surgery and the Icahn School of Medicine at the Mount Sinai Health System in New York. She specializes in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. Her primary research interest throughout her career has been basic science of rotator cuff disease and tendon healing as it pertains to cuff repair. She is a Co-Primary Investigator on two major projects funded by the National Institute of Health which focus on rotator cuff degeneration and repair, and tissue engineering strategies for tendon repair. Her research is complemented with clinical projects with her colleagues on Shoulder and Elbow problems.
Dr. Galatz has served as a faculty member in numerous courses on a national and international level, lecturing on a variety of clinical topics pertaining to Shoulder and Elbow pathology. Dr. Galatz is the Associate Editor for Basic Science for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and is a peer reviewer for multiple other orthopedic publications.
