Applications are open in the Fall for VOS Board positions and volunteer opportunities. Whether you are ready to take on a leadership role or would like to contribute your time and talents as a volunteer, there are many ways to get involved.
VOS Board Positions
VOS is committed to fostering an inclusive and transparent process for selecting members of our Board of Directors, and we encourage members interested in becoming more involved in the leadership of our organization to apply.
The nomination and selection process will take place as follows:
Application Submission: Members interested in serving on the VOS Board of Directors are encouraged to submit an application expressing their interest in an open position.
Nominating Committee Review: The Nominating Committee, composed of VOS Past Presidents, will review all applications during its meeting at the 2027 VOS Conference in Sun Valley and recommend a candidate for each open position.
Presentation of Nominees: At the General Membership Meeting, also held during the 2027 VOS Conference, Immediate Past President Dr. Kristin Shaw will announce the Nominating Committee's recommended candidate for each position. Each recommended candidate will be invited to briefly introduce themselves and share why they are interested in serving on the VOS Board.
Open Nominations: Following the introduction of each recommended candidate, nominations will be opened to the membership. Members may nominate themselves or a colleague for any open position. Nominees for President-Elect must have previously served on the BOD.
Selection or Election: If no additional nominations are received, the Nominating Committee's recommended candidate will be selected for that position. If multiple candidates are nominated, a vote will take place during the General Membership Meeting to determine who will fill the position.
All open Board positions will be filled during the General Membership Meeting at the 2027 VOS Conference in Sun Valley. Applicants should ideally plan to attend this meeting. Applications are due NO LATER than February 1, 2027.

VOS Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers can let us know their interests and areas of expertise so we can connect them with opportunities to support VOS programs, committees, and initiatives. APPLICATIONS FOR THESE POSITIONS ARE DUE NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 15, 2026.
